"Ten Days Gone" now in Pembroke #45

So proud to have my story "Ten Days Gone" in the latest and greatest edition of University of North Carolina's Pembroke Magazine.
Here's a little history:
When Norman Macleod (1906-1985) founded Pembroke Magazine in 1969, he had already edited some of the top "little" magazines in the country, including Morada (1929-30), Front (1930-31), Maryland Quarterly (1942-44), and the Briarcliff Quarterly (1944-47). Macleod edited Pembroke Magazine for ten years, when poet and North Carolina native Shelby Stephenson assumed the editorship. Stephenson, winner of the 2001 North Carolina Award in Literature, served as editor from 1979 until his retirement in 2010.

Tucson Festival of Books - Day 2

Got to hear these 2 brilliant authors read from their spanking new books! Aisha Sloan's Fluency of Light, a book of essays from the UofIowa and Matt Mendez' Twitching Heart from Floricanto Press. I predict these 2 authors will create many more books. Wonderful debut books.

Also got to sit in on Debra Brenegan's session on Creating the Historical Persona. Love her! Her latest, Shame the Devil is also on my list.

Lastly, 3 bio writers writing about: Molly Brown (known as The Unsinkable), Joshephine Earp (yup, "wife" of that Wyatt guy) and Bonnie (late of Bonnie & Clyde).

So much fascinating history to catch up on. Can't wait to see all the history books modified with all the good new info these folks have uncovered.

Wonderful day in Tucson. Average temp about 62 and sunny. Yippee!

Tucson Festival of Books - Day 1

I made it! Unbelievable! Mostly due to UofA basketball having a game against ASU at the same exact time so parking was tough going.
Got to hear Ann Hood, Alice LaPlante and Bill Roorbach speak and loved them all. Went right out and bought books!
And tomorrow there's even more! Don't know if I'm gonna make it, but I'm gonna try.
